Norma L. Vandenbergen
Norma L. Vandenbergen, age 91, of Berlin, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Country Villa Assisted Living in Freedom.
She was born November 15, 1929, in Chili, WI, the daughter of John and Hilda Quicker Barth. Norma was a 1948 graduate of Marshfield High School. On September 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold Vandenbergen at Zion Lutheran Church in Clark County, WI.
Norma and Harold moved to Berlin where they raised their family and she worked for JC Penney. She loved camping with family and spending time on their boat. She and Harold were members of the Berlin Boat Club and served their church, Grace English Lutheran Church, faithfully. They also joyfully helped members of their community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Norma enjoyed spending time in God’s creation by gardening, planting flowers, and watching the birds. She lived a life full of love for others, and most of all, her family. Norma cherished the many celebrations and events she shared with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Dennis (Mary) Vandenbergen and Judy (Tom) Wilson; three grandchildren, Joe (Jen) Wilson, Nicole (Dan) Demske and Rachel (Justin) Hanks; two great-grandchildren, Josiah and Ava Demske; and one brother, Jim (Margie) Barth. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on August 25, 2005; and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Barth.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Lord’s House of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. The family wishes to thank Country Villa Assisted Living, Heartland Hospice and Dr. Edward Szabo and his staff for all their care and service to Norma over the last several years.
