Denis M. Moriearty

Denis Michael Moriearty, age 86, of Fox Lake (formerly Berlin), died on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

He was born October 28, 1931, in the Township of Aurora, the son of George and Agnes Markowski Moriearty. Denis was a 1949 graduate of Berlin High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. On September 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Beverly Walter at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Berlin.

Denis was a counselor at Waukesha School for Boys, Captain at Fox Lake Correctional Institute, and Correction Facilities Expert for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement. He was a member of USS Ingersoll #652, Tin Can Sailors, and Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three children, Denise Moriearty, Kathleen (Rene) Hazeltine, and Tom (Sachi Komai) Moriearty; six grandchildren, Kendra Morse, Barrett Morse, Cassandra Moriearty, Nicholas Hazeltine, Tonya Hazeltine, and Lily Moriearty; and three great-grandchildren, Ashten, Aiden, and Everly; two brothers, Philip Moriearty and John Moriearty; and nieces and nephews. Denis was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rose Berken and Ruth Wilson; and two sisters-in-law, Grace Moriearty and Nancy Moriearty.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. George Groves officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Diabetes Foundation or Dodge County Humane Society.
