Francisca Melchor

Francisca “Frances” Melchor, age 84, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Brown Wilcox in Berlin.

She was born December 17, 1933, in Tampica, Mexico, the daughter of Pedro and Paula Hurtado Aguayo. On July 6, 1960, she was united in marriage to Mateo Melchor in McAllen, TX.

Frances did migrant work for 15 years and was a homemaker. She loved flowers, plants, gardening, reading, doing puzzles and sewing, but her true love was her grand and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her 5 children, Antonio Melchor, Teresa Melchor, Victor (Rita) Melchor, Rosa (Rafael) Ortega and Gabriel Melchor; 11 grandchildren, Estanislao Jr., Antonio, Jeremiah, Tirza, Victor E., Stephanie, Elizabeth, Christina, Rafael Jr., Gabriella and Angelica; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Santos, Carmen, Isabel and Guadalupe; and 3 brothers, Pedro, Jose and Reymundo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mateo on September 20, 2008; daughter, Maria “Elena” Melchor on December 26, 2014; and daughter-in-law, Llana Shultz on January 13, 2013.

Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, June 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Sister Pat Flanigan officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
