Frederick H. King

Frederick Harvey King, age 74, of Taycheedah, died peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Froedert St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend.

He was born January 15, 1942, in Fond du Lac, the son of Harvey and Dolores Friedrich King. Fred was a 1960 graduate of Berlin High School. On May 17, 1969, he was united in marriage to Charlene Smerling at Borth United Methodist Church.

Fred worked as an Engineer at Giddings and Lewis for over 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Fred was a Hunter Education Instructor for over 20 years and a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fond du Lac.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Charlene; three children, Tina (Terry) Smart, Kim (Bill) Schlies and Jason (Joyelle) King; six grandchildren, Travis Smart, Trevor Smart, Carter King, Lucas King, Jacob Wendt (Samantha Dietman) and Sidney Schlies; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Ryker; and five brothers and sisters, Carol Bliske, Beverly (Richard) Busha, Gary King, Joan (Warren) Nieds and Robin (James) Dorst. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jeffery; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Bliske.

Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, May 25, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and again on Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 120 Sheboygan St., Fond du Lac, the Rev. Bill Beaton officiating. Interment will be in Burdick Cemetery in the Town of Rushford on Thursday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m.
