Elaine J. Hockenhull
Elaine Jeanette Hockenhull, age 93, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Patriot Place in Berlin.
She was born January 14, 1923 in the Town of Warren in Waushara County, the daughter of Frank and Florence Mitchell Radliff. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1940, and graduated from Waushara County Normal School. In her early years she was a school teacher in Green Lake and Waushara counties. On March 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to John W. Hockenhull in Berlin. She and John worked the Hockenhull family farm (which had been in operation for three generations) until the time of his death in 1984. Elaine loved the outdoors, and traveled to Europe, and almost every state. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Berlin, where she was baptized, and continued her membership at Federated Church.
Elaine is survived by her children, Susan (Michael) Rhode, Janet (Kenneth) Twin, William (Kathy) Hockenhull and Thomas (Cindy) Hockenhull; her six grandchildren, Vincent, Emily, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, and John (Dasha); one great-granddaughter, Sasha; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on Dec. 30, 1984; a sister, Blanche Cate; and brother, Kenneth Radliff.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin, the Rev. Thomas A. Zuhlke officiating. Inurnment will be in Welsh Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
