Gene Allan “Geno” Hangartner
Gene Allan “Geno” Hangartner, age 41, of Berlin, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
He was born April 13, 1981, in Shawano, the son of Eugene and Lisa Thurk Hangartner. Geno was a 2001 graduate of Marion High School. On May 17, 2014, he was united in marriage to Melissa Wegner in Berlin.
Geno got his CDL from FVTC, and was an over-the-road truck driver for Schneider National, Inc., Plainfield Trucking, Distributor’s LTD. in Antigo and GFL in Omro, along with various other companies. Truck driving was his passion and his children were a driving force in his life. He also loved working on cars, lawnmowers or anything with a motor! Those close to him would always say he wore his heart on his sleeve.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa; two sons, Austin and Dylan Hangartner; step-daughter, Jenna Tuinstra; mother, Lisa Besaw (partner, Tom); father, Eugene (Polly) Hangartner; two brothers, Rusty Hangartner and Anthony Hangartner (Candace); brother-in-law, Greg (Becky) Wegner; parents-in-law, Gary (Jane) Wegner; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Geno was preceded in death by his grandparents; and infant daughter, Paige.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Rev.
