Daniel E. Chier

Daniel Edward Chier, age 72, of Poy Sippi, died on Friday, November 4, 2016 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton.

He was born December 12, 1943, in Berlin, the son of Edward and Aves Nitzke Chier. Dan was a 1962 graduate of Berlin High School. On October 26, 1963, he was united in marriage to Myrna Nichols at 1st English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They just celebrated their 53rd anniversary.

Dan worked 23 years at Rockwell Standard in Oshkosh and then went into the antique business full time which he loved doing. His greatest love was for his family and his dearly loved grandchildren. He was a member of Poy Sippi United Methodist Church.

He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife, Myrna; four sons, Timothy (Ann) Chier, Todd (Laura) Chier, Terry (Dawn) Chier and Thomas Chier; one daughter, Melissa (Jay) Jones; and ten grandchildren, Mack and Abbie Chier, Elliot and Nicholas Chier, Gale Chier, Gage and Mya Chier, and Emily, Ethan and Erica Jones. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Poy Sippi United Methodist Church, the Rev. George Groves officiating. Interment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin. A memorial has been established.

The family would like to thank the Emergency staff and Dr. Blaha at ThedaCare-Berlin, the I.C.U. staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton, Dr. Wilson, Tammy, Brandyn and Chaplin Jordan. A special thank you goes to our Pastor George Groves for his prayers and compassion for Danny.
