June I. Lubbert
June Ione Lubbert, age 92, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Patriot Place in Berlin.
She was born June 3, 1931, in Polson, MT, the daughter of Erving and Ethel Martinson Abel. June was a 1949 graduate of Little Falls High School in MN. After high school, June was a nurse’s aide and au pair in Minneapolis. On September 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Lubbert in Little Falls, MN and was proud to say they had lived in seven towns and five states, making Berlin their home for the last 57 years. June sold Avon for 32 years. She was an active volunteer, and a 14-year employee of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin, where she organized soup suppers and knit over 1,000 baby sweaters to support the Lutheran World Services.
June was a supporter of Berlin theater and arts, and had an exhibition of her fiber arts at the Berlin Public Library. As the wife of a prominent businessman, she was active in the Berlin community and was often involved with volunteering and community development, including being the first to lead the official Berlin Welcome Wagon welcoming new residents to the City. June left this world with the same positive spirit and optimism with which she greeted friends and strangers alike.
She is survived by her two sons, Guy Lubbert and Brian (“Pixy”) Lubbert; one daughter, Julie Owens; two grandchildren, Annie (Eric) Miller and Brittany (Tyler) Tennie; five great-grandchildren, Colin, Colten, Cameryn, Vada and Luca; sister, Janice Heid; brother, Dennis Able; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, on May 28, 2018; two brothers, Norman Abel and Irving Abel Jr; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Heid.
