John J. Nast

John Joseph Nast, age 74, of Pine River, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at home in the Township of Leon.

He was born May 21, 1950, in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of Harvey and Delores Weeks Nast. He was a graduate of Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac.

John worked for the Soo Line Railroad company for 23 years, working his way up to switchman before retiring. He was a member of the Masters Motorcycle Club of Ripon. John liked to go traveling, to watch and enjoy nature, as well as all his many pets over the years.

He is survived by his life partner, of 52 years, Wendy Barndt; one daughter, Andrea Vineyard; two granddaughters, Emily and Megan Vineyard; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Haymans; one sister, Jennifer (Kevin) Draves; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Nast; and sister, Sheila Anderson.

A Celebration of John’s life for family and friends will be at a later date. A special thank you to the amazing EMTs, and to friends and neighbors Paul and Sharon Westphal, whose love and care was exceptional.
