Juliana “Julie” Swartz
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Juliana "Julie" Swartz, at the age of 84. Julie passed away peacefully at Crossroads Care Center of Mayville on January 4, 2025.
She was born June 20, 1940, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Anna Valentine Hall. Julie graduated from Bradford High School in 1957 and began her career working at Lepp’s Department Store. She later became a produce manager at Kohl’s Food Store and continued to serve her community by working at St. Joseph Nursing Home. On December 2, 1961, she was united in marriage to Charles Swartz at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha, and together they shared a life full of love, laughter and enough playful arguments to keep things interesting. Julie was an incredibly devoted mother and grandmother, playing a pivotal role in the lives of her grandchildren, offering support, guidance, and endless affection.
In 1999, Julie and Charles moved to Neshkoro where she became an active member of St. James Catholic Church and CCW. Julie’s deep faith was a guiding force in her life. She dedicated countless hours to church festivals, the Orphan Grain Train, and any event that required her helping hand. Julie was an American Red Cross blood bank donor.
In addition to her love of family, Julie had a wide array of hobbies that kept her busy and fulfilled, including bridge, golf, cribbage, bingo and bowling. Julie had a deep love for games of all kinds and shared daily competitions with her husband, Chuck, always keeping things fun and competitive. Whether it was tending to her garden, reading, doing a crossword, feeding wildlife at their home, watching Jeopardy, or enjoying time at local establishments with friends, Julie’s joyful spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will especially be remembered for baking delicious treats for family gatherings. Julie may no longer be with us but she leaves behind a lifetime of humor, love and moments that will continue to make us smile long after she’s gone.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; two children, Tina (Dave) Chatmon and Mike (Filomena) Swartz; five cherished grandchildren, Carolyn (Chris) Serpe, Jessica (Bryant) Bednarek, Anna (Brian) Schoettler, Sam (Josh) Vaughn, and Michael (Crystal) Swartz; nine treasured great-grandchildren, Brodie, Crash, Clara, Zoey, Callie, Zander, Luke, Charlie, and Calyx; brother, Bob (Chris) Hall; and special friends, Mary and Adam Kurczek. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Hall.
