Kenneth E. LaSure
Kenneth Eugene LaSure, age 92, of Poy Sippi, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
He was born October 17, 1932, in Janesville, WI, the son of Melvin and Pearl Christiansen LaSure. Ken was a 1950 graduate of Janesville High School. On June 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to June Snell at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. They celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Ken retired from Waupaca Auto Supply after managing Weyauwega Auto Supply for 30 years. After retiring, he drove school bus for 17 years for Mascoutin Transportation. He genuinely enjoyed the kids and the trips with the different bus drivers. Ken also loved to relax and go deer hunting up at his cabin in Mercer. What he treasured the most was the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during Christmastime. He would have fun making them pancakes.
He served his community for 50+ years as a member of the Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department and Waushara County Ems. Ken pioneered the first ambulance for Waushara County and was one of the first licensed EMTs in Wisconsin. His volunteerism continued at Wild Rose Baptist Church, where he was an active member and helped with the construction of the interior. He also volunteered for other ministries, including Erin Jass of Wyldewood Baptist Church in Oshkosh.
He is survived by his wife, June; son, Tim (Annette) LaSure; grandchildren, Jeff (Tanya) LaSure, Jeremy (Amanda) LaSure, Katie (Bryan) Fischer, Amanda LaSure (special friend, Bradon Zeitler), Abby (Shawn) Kwidzinski and Matt (Becky) LaSure; great-grandchildren, Allie, Kaydence, Keira, Macie, Caleb, Addalyn, Peyton, Jackson, Ellie and Lukas; daughter-in-law, Charlene LaSure; brother-in-law, Dennis Erickson; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim LaSure; parents-in-law, Chet and Lois Snell; brother-in-law, Maurice (Hatie) Snell; and sisters-in-law, Irene (Henry) Lippert, Frances Doll, Shirley Erickson and Mary Grambsch.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Wild Rose Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ben Terpstra officiating. Interment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. In place of flowers, the family would ask that memorials be directed to Wild Rose Baptist Church or Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department.
