Judith M. “Judy” Gravunder
Judith Mary “Judy” Gravunder, age 80, of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Omro Care Center.
She was born August 10, 1944, in New Auburn, WI, the daughter of Clifford and Lorraine Hoefert Nyhagen. Judy was a 1962 graduate of New Auburn High School. She graduated from UW-Oshkosh School of Nursing with an RN degree. On May 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Eugene Gravunder at Bethel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, WI.
Judy started her career doing in-home health care before becoming a registered nurse. She worked as an RN at Berlin Memorial Hospital, WI Veterans Home-King and Red Cross until her retirement at age 68. Judy enjoyed knitting and she and Gene loved to travel and dance. They were even crowned polka king & queen! Judy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene; five children, Peter (Missy) Gravunder, Paul (Candy) Gravunder, Daniel (Beth) Gravunder, Sarah (Rodney) Polk and Aaron (Stacey) Gravunder; nine grandchildren, Ryan Gravunder, Dylan Gravunder, Anna (Dillon) Scheer, Ashley (Sam) Radtke, Ava Gravunder, Alexa Gravunder, Courtney Gravunder, Lucas (Claire) Gravunder and Jacob (Hannah) Polk; five great-grandchildren, Piper Polk, Ames Polk, Lila Scheer, Gracie Polk and Stetson Gravunder; and brother, Allen Nyhagen. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cherie Pooler and Cynthia Bitney; and two brothers, Dale Nyhagen and Terry Nyhagen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Gregory Sluke officiating. Inurnment will be in Pine River Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Nativity Fund.
