William Charles “Doc” Bush
William Charles “Doc” Bush, age 84 of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Patriot Place, with Beth, Bill, and Naomi at his side.
He was born August 26, 1927 in Berlin, WI. He was the son of Dr. Burt A. and Dorothy “Lucille” Allen Bush. He was a 1945 graduate of Berlin High School and completed pre-dental studies at Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he played football at both schools. He graduated from Marquette Dental School in 1954. On October 25, 1958 he was united in marriage to Joanne Berg.
He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II as a First Marine Air Wing Corpsman with the Black Sheep Squadron. He was an Eagle Scout, past President of Berlin Alumni Association, served two years as Treasurer of Berlin School Board, and Director of First National Bank for 32 years.
Dr. Bush was a member of the O’Connor-Chiers American Legion Post #340, Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925, Past Master of Berlin Lodge #38 F & AM, member of Tripoli Shrine in Milwaukee, and life member of UW Oshkosh “O” Club. He was past President and life member of Winnebago County Dental Society, past President of Fox River Valley Dental Society, life member of American Dental Association, life member of American Association of Endodontists, and a life member of Delta Sigma Delta. He traveled to Haiti for “Wooden Bell Missions” as a member of a Health Team in 1988 & 1989. Dr. Bush was a member of the North Pearl Street Athletic and Advancement Society. He was a member of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.
He is survived by a son, William B. “Bill” (Amy) Bush of Longmont, CO; a daughter, Beth Bush of the Township of Nepeuskun; a grandson, William Clark “Will” Bush; a sister, Carol (Marlin “Zip”) Zuther of Seattle, WA; a sister-in-law, Agnes Bush of Omro; special friend, Naomi Sievers; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne on September 28, 2005; an infant son, Daniel; his parents; and a brother, Lee Bush.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin, the Rev. Scott Piper officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, May 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel and on Friday at Grace English Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service. There will be a Masonic Service on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. The family prefers memorials be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children or Berlin Community Scholarship Corporation.
