Gwen E. Benson

Gwen E. Benson, age 75, formerly of Berlin, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Presbyterian Home in Bloomington, MN. Gwen was born August 11, 1935 in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Fred and Irma Schroeder Schram. She attended Berlin Schools. Gwen Moved to Minnesota and lived there until the late 1970’s, when she moved to Texas. In 1993 she returned to the Minneapolis area where she lived until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; two daughters Sue (Dean) Engler of Chaska, MN, and Sally (John) Stewart of Lancaster, TX; two grandchildren Kadie Engler and Christian Stewart; one son Fred Koeppen of Lancaster, TX. She is further survived by many relatives in the Schram family who reside in Berlin and surrounding areas. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Irma Schram; husbands Robert Koeppen, and George Matteson; a brother Jim Schram; and aunt Norma Schram. Funeral Services was held on Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin, the Rev. Rick Engen officiating. Interment was held in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel.
