Gordon J. Moldenhauer
Gordon John Moldenhauer, age 84, of Berlin, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton.
He was born March 26, 1935, in Berlin, the son of Roy and Mabel Moldenhauer. Gordie was a 1953 graduate of Berlin High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958. On September 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lyn Fuhremann at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.
Gordie worked for Ludwig Bakery, Dubberstein Sand, Chapmans, McKay Nursery and for over 20 years he was an assembler/painter for Speed Queen and a life insurance agent for AAL. He was an EMT volunteer in Berlin’s 1st training class, a volunteer at the Berlin Food Pantry, and a member of NRA, Berlin Conservation Club and Light of Christ Lutheran Fellowship. Gordie enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and traveling, but especially treasured the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lyn; daughter, Heidi (Roger) Wood; son, John (Debbie) Moldenhauer; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannette Mitchelly; brother, Leroy (Alice) Moldenhauer; brother-in-law, Tom (Nancy) Fuhremann; and nieces and nephews. Gordie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Arnold Kretzmann.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Scott Piper officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Dare to Believe.
