Norma E. “Tootie” Manweiler
Norma E. “Tootie” Manweiler, age 97, of Poy Sippi, died peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Brown Wilcox Retirement Home in Berlin.
She was born January 22, 1925, in Wauwatosa, WI, the daughter of Elda Frank Rheimer. Norma attended Immanuel Parochial School in Auroraville. On December 29, 1945, she was united in marriage to Orlo Manweiler at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville.
Norma worked as a welder at the Berlin Foundry, in the canning factory in Fairwater, at Roland’s Country Market and Daisy Dairy. She was the owner of Fountain Valley Farm Market and was well known around the Poy Sippi community for her home-grown produce and vegetables. She took true pride in her farming, gardening and how she mowed her lawn. She enjoyed fixing things, being outdoors and bowling. Norma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville and was honored this Spring for being the oldest member.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Todd) Dukelow and Judy (Ray) Schierland; five grandchildren, David Schmidt, Dale (Beth) Schmidt, Jeremie (Jackie) Schmidt, Becca (Mike) Kamps and Jerry (Emily) Schierland; seven great-grandchildren, Austin (Christine) Schmidt, Ashley Schmidt (friend, Dylan), Joseph Schmidt (friend, Anna), Joanna Schmidt, Ella Schierland, Samuel Schierland and James Schierland; half-sister-in-law, Joanie Rheimer; and sister-in-law, Anita Salanas. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Orlo; half-brother, Richard Rheimer; and adopted brother, Walter “Bud” (Marvella) Brey.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville, Rev. Ryan Willis officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi, and again on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank Brown Wilcox Retirement Home and SSM Health Hospice Hope.
