Arnold H. Bohn
Arnold Herman Bohn, age 86 of Mountain Home, TX, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at home. He was born June 9, 1930 in Deerfield, WI to Edward and Metta (Starks) Bohn. On December 18, 1960, he married Merle Ann Krueger at St. John Lutheran Church, Berlin, WI. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Arnold went to school in Plainfield and Brandon, WI. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1948. Upon graduation he entered the United States Air Force and served in Germany during Berlin Air Lift at the time of the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Master of Science degree in education. He was an electrical engineer for several years, then moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI where he helped implement and taught in the instrumentation program at Mid State Technical College until his retirement.
He was a passionate sportsman and outdoors-man as well as an outstanding athlete, excelling in baseball and football. He was also involved in coaching youth baseball. Arnold retired to the Hill Country of Texas in 1998 and was involved in Operation Orphans, Kerrville Genealogical Society and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville, TX.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Merle (Krueger) Bohn; daughter, Andrea (Steve) Prickett; sons, Aaron Bohn and Kevin (Inna) Bohn; grandchildren, Celeste, Jason, Nicoletta, Sebastian and Levi Bohn; brother, Emil Bohn; sisters, Bertha Wallace, Arlene (Carroll) Schilf, Joyce Nowacki, and Sandra Parks; sister-in-law, Pat Bohn; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Erdman; brother, Martin Bohn; and brothers-in-law, Harry Wallace and John Nowacki.
Memorial services will be held at his home in Texas on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Scott T. Piper officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
