Frederick R. Suckow

Frederick Ralph Suckow, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Cardiff by the Sea, California.

He was born October 21, 1922, in Ripon, the son of Frederick and Helen Suckow. He was a 1940 graduate of Ripon High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a member of the NCAA Championship Crew Team in 1946. On August 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mariel Kolb from Berlin. Fred and Mariel enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Fred had a long and successful career with Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company. He was promoted to National Sales Manager and worked in both the architectural and aircraft divisions of the company.

Fred and Mariel loved traveling the U.S., visiting all 50 states and overseas venues. They shared a love of museums and great dining. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, talking politics, reading and following all sports, including his beloved baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his brother, Gordon; his daughters, Sherrie and Kathy; his son, Fred Jr.; grandchildren, William, Eric, Kelly and Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Arabella and Harrison. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Mariel; and brothers, Robert and Edgar.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Nepeuskun Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
