Helen L. Spencer

Helen L. Spencer, age 85, of Redgranite, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Preston Place Assisted Living in Redgranite.

She was born July 24, 1936, in Minnesota. On September 20, 1962, she was united in marriage to Victor Spencer. Helen worked at Main Street Restaurant, Butch’s Bakery and McDonalds. She liked to watch old westerns, especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza, take walks and go to events at her church. Helen enjoyed cooking and baking. Every Christmas when Larry and Ky went to visit she would have care packages for them; Ky got gingerbread men made from sugar cookies and Larry got the traditional gingerbread men cookies. She was a past member of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Helen is survived by her son, Larry (Deniece) Spencer; grandchild, Ky Spencer; and a son, Calvin Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, on July 26, 1982; three sons, Raymond, Scott and John Spencer; daughter-in-law, Trudy Smiley Spencer; mother-in-law, Lillian Barnes; and her canine companion and best friend, “Skippy”.

Graveside services with inurnment will be held on Monday, December 6, at 3:00 p.m., at Pine Grove Cemetery in Auroraville, Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
