Joan B. Schumacher
Joan Barbara Schumacher, age 87, of Milwaukee, formerly of Neshkoro, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the home of her daughter.
She was born March 9, 1935, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Frank and Edna Kiefert Nowak. Joan was a 1953 graduate of Riverside High School in Milwaukee. On June 25, 1977, she was united in marriage to Eugene L. Schumacher in Milwaukee. Joan worked for the Dept of Defense as a parts inspector, as well as Briggs & Stratton, Red Owl grocery store, Grootema Insurance Company and as a waitress. She was a State of WI Roller Skating Champion in free-style jumping and spinning, a past leader for TOPS, and enjoyed dancing, couples bowling and playing racket ball.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Katrichis, Joni Cook and Jane (Matt) Hemstreet; one son, John Hanson; six grandchildren, Brittany (Jerry) Certain, Dana (Mitch) Bennett, Rachel Cook, Katherine Hemstreet, Jason (Kayla) Katrichis, Samantha Hemstreet; four great-grandchildren, Michelle Certain, Vanessa Certain, Charlotte Certain and Everly Bennett; and one sister, Marianne Narlock. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on November 7, 2020; parents; and a daughter, Cheryl Evers.
