Kenneth W. Schuett

Kenneth William Schuett enterd into his eternal home on December 5, 2021. Ken was born in Evanston, IL, to Kenneth and Lauraine Schuett. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He graduated Evanston East Township High School.

He had many interesting jobs through the years and worked all over the U.S. Ken started as an auto mechanic, then worked for Underwriter’s Laboratories and helped build Disney World in Florida. After that he did heating and air conditioning work while farming near Peshtigo, WI. Ken was also a member of the Peshtigo Volunteer Fire Department. He eventually worked as head of maintenance at the Holiday Inn in Marinette.

When Ken’s oldest son wanted to attend Northwestern Prep School in Watertown, he sold the farm. He found work at Bethesda Lutheran Home where the residents played matchmaker and he married Cindy Kretzmann Martin. His final job was a machinist mechanic at Bee Industries in Watertown. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He loved history and spent many years doing historical reenactments. Ken also loved to travel and had a heart for Native Americans. He volunteered at the Second Time Around Shop for several years, checking out the electrical items that were donated. Ken was a member of Berlin Historical Society and St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; five children, Amy Heytow, Carl (Ann) Schuett, Jedediah Schuett, Jacob (Jenn) Schuett, and Ruth (Jason) Juul; two step-sons, Dan (Toni) Martin and Jim (Amanda) Martin; six grandchildren, Chloe, Grace, Ashley, Jacob Jr., Matt, and Amelia; four step-grandchildren, Paige, Lily, Emilee and Joey. He is further survived by by his two brothers, Glenn (Sandi) Schuett and Doug (Nancy) Schuett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marcia (Susan Agee) Finger, Alan (LaVonne) Kretzmann, Sharon (John Oakes) Peterson and David (Michelle) Kretzmann; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Indian Ministries.
