William A. Savitt

William Anthony Savitt, age 90, of Neshkoro, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Patriot Place in Berlin.

He was born August 10, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of William and Bernice Yocis Savitt. William was a graduate of Missouri Military Academy and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He served his country in the U.S. Army, where he met his wife. On April 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jane Baumann at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA.

William was the owner of Medical Arts Clinic Pharmacy in Appleton, on the faculty at UW-Oshkosh in the School of Nursing and worked as a pharmacist for Mercy Medical Center, VA Hospital in Madison and Ripon Medical Center. After retirement 20 years ago, he and Jane moved to Katy Lake in Neshkoro. William loved the outdoors, especially duck hunting, sailing, fishing, growing shiitake mushrooms (he was affectionately known as “Mr. Mushroom”), and home brewing. He was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and currently a member at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro.

He is survived by his wife of 64+ years, Jane; his children, Kevin (Meghan) Savitt, Kristin (Mark) Lutzke and Kent (Sheri) Savitt; and one sister, Rosie (Asa) Rosenkranz. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Savitt and Bernice Savitt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral services will be held on Friday at Barbola Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Arthur Callies officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Neshkoro.
