Janet M. Ryerson

Janet Marion Ryerson, age 91, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Prairie Place Assisted Living in Ripon.

She was born January 18, 1930, in Neillsville, WI, the daughter of Arnold and Esther Dollase Dudei. Janet was a 1949 graduate of Berlin High School. On September 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert Nigbor and on August 8, 1987, she was united in marriage to Ted Ryerson at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Janet worked for JCPenney Co., Spurgeons, Hamilton’s Shoe Store and Hamilton’s Ladies Apparel. She loved watching the “hummers” (hummingbirds) and enjoyed singing with the Berlin Senior Singers and in the church choir. Janet was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Nigbor (Wendy Carson) and Dale (Maggie) Nigbor; two grandsons, Anthony (Jenni) Nigbor and Joshua Nigbor; one granddaughter, Kayla (Dustin) Kono; two great-grandsons, Mason and Brayden; step-son, James (Julie) Ryerson and family; two step-daughters, Diane LaVanway and Linda (Robert) Klein and families; and several nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Nigbor and Ted Ryerson; daughter, Cheryl Nigbor Osheim; infant son; brother, Hilmer “Bud” Dudei; and sister, Irma (Schwanke) Johnson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Inurnment will be in Foster Road Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
