Virginia A. Radtke

Virginia Ann Radtke, age 80, of Berlin, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

She was born July 31, 1941, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of W. Clayton and Ruby Peters Haley. Virginia was a 1959 graduate of Oconto Falls High School. She attended UW-Oshkosh and UW GB-Marinette Campus. On August 25, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gary Radtke at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls.

Virginia was an elementary teacher in Minneapolis, MN, and Freedom, WI before serving as head cook for almost 20 years at Berlin Senior Center. She took pride as a self-proclaimed culinary artist. She enjoyed bowling for many years, attending family sporting events, casino trips and gatherings with her birthday club girls. In later years, Virginia would have fun on long rides with her companion, Leland Heise. Her true passion however, was spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters, Amy (Ken) Markham, Julie Radtke and Becky (David) Brooks; son-in-law Joe Andersen; five grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Michalski, Andrea Markham (fiancé, Bill McBrair), Zachary Brooks (fiancée, Ashley Haese), Rachel Brooks (Forrest Probst) and Richard Markham (Camryn Reck); seven+ great-grandchildren, Ian, Bo, Dominic, Macy, Annabelle, Aiden, Mallory and a baby due in February, 2022; sister, Kathleen (William) Kamke; and her loving and dedicated companion, Leland Heise. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary, on May 11, 2014; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Andersen; and sister, Marilyn Rice.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Rev. Scott T. Piper officiating. Inurnment will be in Brushville Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Agnesian Hospice Hope for their excellent care of Virginia.
