Diane Marie Polakowski

Diane Marie Polakowski, of Berlin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 27, 2017, at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh, following a brief illness.

Diane was born on November 10 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Irene Bastian and Max Sell. She loved children so it comes as no surprise that she worked many years as a playground aide for the Berlin Area School District (a job she loved) until her retirement. On October 25, 1985, Diane (or as he liked to call her Dani) married the love of her life, Bob Polakowski. Together they loved to take “little road trips” to the casino, dance, and just have fun together.

Diane was a wonderful mother and is survived by her daughters, Candy Sticka, Robin (Tim) Bitney, Holly (Jim) Fawley, and Tracey (Randy) Merrill. She loved, and was very proud of her grandchildren, Shannon (Andy) Kohl, Ashley (Dan) Niemela, Zachary (Kimmi) Polakowski, Jonathan Polakowski (special friend, Savannah Domke), Andrea Fasel (fiancé, Matt Dinger), and Spencer Fasel. She considered herself very lucky to have and be able to play and love her great-grandchildren, “the little girls” (as she liked to call them), Cayleigh Polakowski, “the twins”, Kenzie and Aubrianna, and Harlow Polakowski and “her little guy” (as she liked to call him), Weston Niemela. She is also survived by an aunt, Jane Heiting; her good friend, Gail Ewald; her cat, “Elvis”; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; her wonderful grandson, Ned Fasel; her mother, Irene Bastian; and other aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hanes, Dr. Lake, and the wonderful nurses and staff that took care of mom at Aurora Medical Center.

As per mom’s request she will be cremated and there will be no service. We as her daughters hope that everyone that knew and loved mom will wish her God’s speed as she leaves us and enters heaven to join her loved ones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
