Charles F. Pick

Charles Fredrick Pick, age 70, of Ripon, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.

He was born November 25, 1947, in Berlin, the son of Fred and Genevieve Resop Pick. Charlie attended St. Michael Grade School and was a 1965 graduate of Berlin High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969, serving in Vietnam from 1967-1969. In 1969, he was united in marriage to Carol Kaatz. They raised their 3 children and later divorced.

For 18 years, Charlie was a press operator for Ripon Community Printers before becoming a truck driver from 1988 until the time of his retirement. He loved hunting in general, especially deer and turkey hunting, sweets and listening/dancing to 50s and 60s music. Charlie had a 1964 Chevelle that sparked his interest in old cars. He was a member of Ripon VFW and the Ripon Car Club.

Charlie is survived by his 3 sons, Brian (Jeanette) Pick, Brent (Andrea) Pick and Jason (Mary Jo) Pick; 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Marissa, Evan, Lauren, Brandon, Addison and Aiden; 3 brothers, Richard “Dick” (Jane) Pick, Danny Pick and Dale (Bobbi Sue) Pick; 2 sisters, Karen (John) Masters and Vicky Griswold (Dean); brother-in-law, Bill Ballwanz; 2 aunts, Carol Pick and Irene Chase; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Patricia Ballwanz and Mary (Paul) Luzenski; and niece, Kiley.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at Barbola Funeral Chapel at 11:30 a.m., Father David Greenfield officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
