John Oliver Hans Nelsen II “Hotdog”
John Oliver Hans Nelsen II “Hotdog”, age 61, of Poy Sippi, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin.
He was born February 15, 1960, in Wautoma, WI, the son of John and Joyce Anderson Nelsen. John attended Wild Rose schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1980-1982. On January 14, 1985, he was united in marriage to Carol Henke. They later divorced. Carol preceded him in death.
John operated “John II Safe Ride” in Poy Sippi. He also worked for the State of WI Winnebago Mental Health Institute in the kitchen and in security. John enjoyed playing pool, hunting, fishing, helping people and especially spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Nelsen; son, Justin M. Henke; three sisters, Roxane (Mark) Engel, Rochel Nelsen (Leonard Wohlrabe) and Reneé Nelsen; one brother, Aron Nelsen; nieces and nephews, John (Jennifer) Engel, Lyn Engel, Jasper (Laura) Nelsen, Laura Engel, Jill Engel, Rhoda Stahmann and McKenna Cudnohosky; several great-nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating.
