Connie M. Lessard

Connie Mae Lessard, known to her family as GG (Great Grandmother), age 85, who had been living in Berlin, WI, left her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2019, after a brief illness. She will be remembered as a generous, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to laugh and serve her family.

She was born March 28, 1933, in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of Herchial and Maxine Richmond Wright. Connie was a graduate of Fair Park High School. She met her husband, Robert Lessard, who was from Hayward, WI, while he was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base near Shreveport. On December 21, 1952, they were united in marriage. The young couple moved to Hayward and started a family. A job opportunity led them to settle in Northwest Indiana where they eventually ran a family trucking company. As they got out of the trucking business, they migrated back to Hayward. Connie was well known in Hayward as the former owner and publisher of the 4 Seasons Newspaper. After Robert died, she moved to Berlin to be close to family.

Connie is survived by children, Russ Lessard, Robyn (Mike) Shattuck, Rick Lessard, and Rhonda (Phil) Novak; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Terry Wright; and three brothers-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, on March 3, 2014; one sister; and several brothers. Her joyful attitude and faithful loving spirit will be missed. A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
