Donald A. Krueger

Donald Alfred Krueger, age 83, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Patriot Place in Berlin.

He was born September 22, 1938, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Alfred Henry and Eldora Pauline Reetz Krueger. Don graduated with honors from Berlin High School in 1956. After studying business administration and mentoring fellow classmates at Valparaiso University and studying civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he became an apprentice at the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. He then attended the University of New Mexico where he graduated summa cum laude in architecture in 1966. After becoming a licensed architect in 1968 he opened his private practice in 1970. During the next several decades he designed over a thousand residential and commercial buildings in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Wisconsin, several of which gained local and national recognition for their design aesthetics and land-use planning innovations. Upon retirement and returning to Wisconsin, Don devoted his time as an enthusiastic gardener, freelance architect and construction manager.

Don is survived by his son, Justin (Meghan), and their children, Reid Wilson and London Grace; his daughter, Meredith (Chris) and her daughter, Makayla; a sister, Merle Ann Bohn; his companion, Mary Jo Phipps; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 18, at 11:00 a.m., at Oakwood Cemetery, Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Anyone wishing to send a sympathy card to the family, please mail to Donald Krueger c/o Barbola Funeral Chapel, PO Box 201, Berlin, WI 54923.
