Donald J. Keating

Donald John Keating, age 90, of Berlin, died peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Patriot Place in Berlin.

He was born October 12, 1931, in Appleton, WI, the son of John and Agnes Thebo Keating. Don was a 1948 graduate of Appleton High School and served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. On September 4, 1963, he was united in marriage to Beverly Petlock at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Ripon.

Don was an avid farmer and a bartender for Norton’s and Alfred’s supper clubs in Green Lake. He was a self-taught investor and enjoyed the stock market. Don was a passionate hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed lake trout fishing and proudly held the record for the largest lake trout for several years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton.

He is survived by his son, Adam Keating; longtime companion, Beverly Ann Keelor; sister, Karen (Chuck) Hall; sister-in-law, Carol Keating; and special friends, Robert (Julie) Keelor and Mark (Monica) Keelor. Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; and four brothers, James (Donna), Gerald (Sandra), Lee and Clifford Keating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Father Dale Grubba officiating. Interment with military honors will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
