Jessica M. Inda
Jessica M. Inda (Jessie, Jess), age 37, lost her long courageous battle with depression on Saturday, September 5, 2015.
Jessie was born September 26, 1977 in Berlin. She lived in Paso Robles, CA from age 4 to 16, and always felt that was home. Jessie was currently residing in Minneapolis, MN.
Jessie graduated from Oshkosh west High School in 1995 and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Political Science from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1999. While obtaining her B.A., Jessie worked as a state certified volunteer counselor and advocate for the Program against Sexual Violence. She provided support and legal advocacy, developed and implemented community outreach programs, coordinated events to raise awareness of sexual and domestic violence. She interned for Senator Rod Grams (R-MN) assisting with research projects on international and domestic affairs, conducted telephone intake of constituents’ concerns and facilitated tours of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Before entering law school, Jessie joined Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), which took her to San Diego, CA. She coordinated educational programs for inner city at risk youth, developed academic and recreational activities for a diverse body of middle school students, planned environmental education and restoration trips and organized San Diego Housing Commission Welfare to Work Program Outreach presenting a diverse body of client’s opportunities within the welfare program.
By third grade Jessie had decided she was going to law school. While in law school, she studied at Oxford University, St. Peters College, Oxford, United Kingdom, earning her Juris Doctorate in June 2006 from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, Washington, D.C. Jessie was President of the Women’s Law Caucus; Vice-President of Entertainment Law Society; Associate in Moot Court; Vice President of California Student Alumni Association; Fraternity Member in Phi Alpha Delta. She worked as a Student Attorney at Columbus Community Legal Services.
While in Washington, D.C., Jessie worked as Head Paralegal for Simon & Associates and as Intellectual Property Support Specialist for Crowell & Morning, LLP. She was hired at Hudson Global Resources, New York, NY (Greenberg Traurig, LLP) where she was an Intellectual Property Paralegal. Jess researched International Trademark, Patent and Copyright litigation and gained extensive experience working on 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals Trademark litigation. Jessie began working for Viacom-MTV Networks (Hudson Global Resources) as the Lead Intellectual Property Paralegal. She filed U.S. Copyright applications for six television channels. Jessie analyzed all of Viacom’s Copyright and Trademark listings for errors in recordation, resolving incorrect information. She organized and implemented the first successful company-wide database for Viacom’s Intellectual Property Information.
Jessie was an intelligent, compassionate, beautiful person who could look right into you or through you with her striking blue eyes. She had incredible insight and an enduring belief in a just and humane society with respect and dignity for all, extending words of wisdom and genuine concern to those in need. Her search for knowledge never ceased. She studied and researched a multitude of subjects and interests. She had a new book or subject matter to discuss/debate/understand.
Jessie loved music. She played, wrote, listened, danced, and shared it whenever possible. Movies, documentaries, and books were shared as quickly as a smile. Jess had a love of sports, playing several while growing up. She always showed grace and humor, strength and understanding. Children loved her. Jessie could warm your heart with her laughter, her quick wit and her amazing smile.
Survivors include her mother, Jean Inda and Step-father, Tom Halverson; brother, Jason Inda; aunts and uncles, Carol Inda (spl friend John), Kathleen Doty, Ron (Dawn) Inda, Ken Inda (spl friend Jo Ann), Barb McCarthy; great-uncle George Inda; cousins Serena, Amanda, Tyler, Ben, Claire, Emma, Violet, Lepri, Ramzia; and much more extended family; true friends; and her bonus family, Katie, Josephine and Mark. She was preceded in death by her father, Jay Cline; grandparents, Leonard and Eleanor Inda; and uncle, Jim Inda.
Memorial Services and Rosary will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Family and friends may call at Barbola Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service a lunch will be provided at the VFW Hall.
