Lynette R. Hess

Lynette Rosalie Hess, age 77, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Juliette Manor in Berlin.

She was born January 11, 1944, in Portage, WI, the daughter of Arnold and Lynda Buchholtz Marotz. Lynn was a 1962 graduate of Westfield High School. On February 27,1965, she was united in marriage to Eugene Hess at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield. They were married 55 years, and had three children and three grandchildren.

Lynn always thought of others before herself. She would often go without, so others could have more. She served her communities with a positive outlook and willingness to help anyone in need. Lynn was a pharmacy clerk at Berlin Pharmacy, Mueller Drug and Ripon Drug. As an active member of Grace English Lutheran Church, she served in many ways over the years, including Sunday School, youth programs, and as President of the Women of Grace. Lynn generously gave her time and talents to the church by organizing many charitable events, and keeping the church shiny and clean.

Her greatest joys were being a grandma, traveling with her husband, hosting parties and watching the Packers play. She was an amazing wife, mom, big sister, aunt, and friend. Lynn was a skilled cook and baker, whose kitchen creations were enjoyed by both her friends and family. One of her other passions in life was being outside, walking through the grass barefoot, and tending her flower gardens. Even with all her talents and generosity, she will be remembered most for her smile that could light up a room and her big warm heart. Lynn will be missed enormously by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Gene; two daughters, Diana (Joan) Bowers and Michelle (John) Rockenback; son, Brian Hess; two grandchildren, Nickolas Rockenback and Morgan Hess; brother, Richard (Shirley) Marotz; sister, Judy (Ed) Peirick; sister-in-law, Kathy (Paul) Frey; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Esther Marotz; brother, John Marotz; and grandson, Noah Rockenback.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. The funeral will also be streamed live online on the Grace English Lutheran of Berlin, WI, Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gelcberlin. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
