Carol Jensen Gonyo

Carol Jensen Gonyo, age 83, of Berlin, died peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.

She was born November 25, 1932 in Berlin, the daughter of Peter and Magdaline Kresal Jensen. She was a 1950 graduate of Berlin High School and attended two years at Oshkosh Teachers College. On February 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Thomas C. Gonyo in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Carol was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and former member of St. Joseph, a past member of the St. Joseph Altar Guild, Catholic School Board and a member of the “Mother’s Underground Spying Club”.

She is survived by her six children, Thomas (Kim) Gonyo II, Joseph (Debra) Gonyo, Ann (Bill) Young, Christopher “Bones” (Kristin) Gonyo, Mary (Adam Jr.) Kurczek, and Pat Gonyo; 14 grandchildren, Brian (Tracy) Gonyo, Heather (Joel) Horton, Ashley (Josh) Anderson, Peter (Kristen) Gonyo, Jonathan Gonyo, C.J. Young, Allyssa (Bryan) Fradette, Blaine (Melissa) Young, Dylan Young, Skye Gonyo, Sia Gonyo, Adam (Sara) Kurczek, Brad (Heather) Kurczek and Courtney (Michael) Judas; 21 great-grandchildren; her favorite “canine” grandchildren; and special friends, Sylvia Wells, and Charlie and Julie Swartz. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas on March 7, 1990; and two sisters, Virginia Morris and “Buddy” Streicher.

Visitation for Carol will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel, and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel, with Father Dan Viertel officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
