Ervin L. “Erv” Gallert

Ervin Louis “Erv” Gallert, age 87, of Berlin, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Patriot Place.

He was born September 15, 1934, at home in the Township of Green Lake, the son of Albert and Catherine Drolshagen Gallert. Erv was a 1954 graduate of Berlin High School.

Erv worked as a technician at Speed Queen in Ripon for over 30 years. In his day, “Big Erv” was a loyal fan of all Berlin High School sports. He seldom missed a game. He and his friends also enjoyed watching the Brewers and Badgers (Erv had season tickets for the Badgers). He was an avid reader, a “master” cribbage player and enjoyed fishing and bowling. Erv was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, Berlin Booster Club and a past member of Berlin Eagles.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Judi Gallert; nieces and nephews, Patti (Dale) Herring, Cathy (Tim) Pischke, Mike Hayes, Bonnie Walker, Chuck Gallert, Jr., Jeff Gallert and Connie (Richard) May; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. Erv was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Margaret Wara, Charles Gallert, Shirley Hayes and Jeanette Gallert.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church.
