Janice Kay Fleegal

Janice Kay Fleegal, age 71, of Berlin, WI, died on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Appleton Medical Center with family by her side.

Janice was born March 4, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Artner) Stark. She graduated from Granville High School in Brown Deer and went on to further her education at UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison. Janice completed her internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee and received a Bachelor’s Degree to become a dietician. While in Madison, she met and married Clifford Fleegal and they moved to Green Lake and farmed, later divorcing. She was employed at UW-Madison, Parkview Care Center in Ripon for 26 years and retired from Columbia Health Care Center. She served 30 years of directing food service programs for the elderly also through Green Lake County, Meals on Wheels, Wautoma and Berlin Memorial Hospital.

Janice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching their many activities. In her earlier years, she liked to garden, volunteer for the Sunrisers 4-H Club and always was ready to help cook or bake for other special events. Janice will be most remembered for her sense of humor, love of life, positive attitude, being a great listener and always made the most of what she had.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne (Robert) Greenfield of Alto, WI; her son, Roy (Gina) Fleegal of Berlin, WI and five grandchildren, Jennifer Greenfield, Julie, Sarah, Alexa and Eva Fleegal; mother-in-law, Elnora Fleegal; sisters-in-law, Carol (Howard) Zabel Sr., Ruth (Bob) Milne; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Karen) Fleegal and Kenneth Wegner. Janice is further survived by uncle, Ralph Artner and special extended family members, Russell and Paula Wobschall and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle; brother-in-law, Alden Putzke; sister-in-law, Jean Wegner and father-in-law, Harry Fleegal.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at 6:00 pm at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Family and friends may call at Barbola Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A time of fellowship to follow after the service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Borth Cemetery in the Town of Poy Sippi.
