Roger M. Field
Roger Merle Field, age 80, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 11, 1941, in Janesville, WI, the son of Merle and Della Thatcher Field. Roger was a 1959 graduate of Milton Union High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy in 1963. On August 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Virginia Babcock at Seventh Day Baptist Church in Milton, WI.
Roger was well known in the Berlin community as a pharmacist and owner of Field Pharmacy for over 50 years. Before coming to Berlin he was also a pharmacist in Janesville & Beloit. He was a former member of Berlin Jaycees, Berlin Rotary and the Pharmacy Association. For over 40 years, Roger served as a member on the Board of Directors at 1st National Bank/Fortifi Bank in Berlin. The highlight after retirement for Roger was giving of his time volunteering at Clay Lamberton Elementary School, especially the trips up north to Trees for Tomorrow that he and Scott Bartol would attend with the kids. He was like a “grandpa” to the kids at school. Roger was a member of Countryview Baptist Fellowship in Berlin.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny”; three daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Grota, Sarah (David) Schmidt and Laura (Todd) Chier; six grandchildren, Erica Grota, Heather Brey, Isaac Brey, Owen Brey, Elliot Chier and Nicholas Chier; brother, Larry (Carol) Field; sister-in-law, Jean Field; and AFS daughter, Lindi Pelkowitz. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Field.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel and on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
