James A. Dillon

James A. “Jim” Dillon, age 84, of Oshkosh, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at The Waterford in Oshkosh.

He was born July 24, 1933, in Chicago, IL, the son of Ralph and Alice Brown Dillon. Jim attended Blaine Grade School and was a graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He received degrees from Long Beach State University in CA, Citrus Belt Law School in Riverside, CA and University of Wisconsin School of Law. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1956. On June 16, 1990, he was united in marriage to Carol Reiser in Fond du Lac.

Jim worked in law enforcement in Santa Ana and Tustin, CA from 1961-1971, was a Criminal Law Associate Professor at Riverside College, CA from 1971-1978, law enforcement instructor at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, WI from 1978-1998 and an ESL instructor in Menasha from 2000-2003. He was a member of WI Correctional Assoc., J.D. at Citrus Belt Law School and UW-Madison School of Law LLM (Master in Law).

He is survived by his wife, Carol; five daughters, Alice (Corey) Pauck, Carol Chijimatsu, Sharon Subia, Ruth Priestley, JuLeanne Singer; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Michelle (Craig) Leinweber; stepson, Michael (Jill) Blank; sister, Mary Schwab; and brother-in-law, Patrick Flaherty. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathryn Dillon; sisters, Patricia (Jack) Shook and Jeanne Marie Flaherty; and brother-in-law, Erwin Schwab.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin, and on Saturday at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the services. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 9, at 11:00 a.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel, Rev. Kelly James Leary officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
