Lewis W. Deppe

Lewis Willis Deppe, age 84, of Auroraville, died peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Juliette Manor in Berlin.

He was born June 16, 1931, in the Town of Wolf River on the home farm of Harvey Borchardt, the son of Otto and Amanda Borchardt Deppe. On August 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hartwig at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville.

Lewis farmed until 1964, when he sold his dairy farm & started working at Dahlke-Fraser Garage in Poy Sippi fixing cars. He sold seed corn for Dairyland Seed Co., and later sold cars until he retired from Johnson Fortnum in Berlin. His customers were friends for life. He was a volunteer on the Poy Sippi Fire Dept. and was also an EMT for Poy Sippi.

Lewis bowled for many years, enjoyed hunting,fishing and going out for pizza. He was a member and had served as Trustee & Treasurer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; brother, Collin (Helen) Deppe; nieces and nephews, William (Sharon) Deppe, Patti (Gary) Batenhorst, Curtis Deppe, Colleen (Mark) Lunow, Sharon (Bob) Beischer, Sandra (Pete) Freres and Rick (April) Brodhagen; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin infant brothers; mother & father-in- Law, Otto & Hedwig Hartwig; and sister & brother-in-Law, Max & Elli Brodhagen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, June 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the services.
