Joan B. Dean

Joan Beatrice Dean, age 89, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Brown Wilcox in Berlin.

She was born March 12, 1928, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Henry and Alberta Babbitz Lemke. Joan was a 1946 graduate of Kaukauna High School. On October 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Dale Dean in Appleton.

Joan was a full-time mother and homemaker. She enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and camping with family and friends. Joan was a member of the Berlin Boat Club, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and member at United Methodist Church in Berlin.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Julie) Dean and Robert (Debbie) Dean; four grandchildren, Alissa Dean, Tyler Dean, Sara (John Mark) Sheppard, and Katie Dean (Ben Eilbes); and four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Noah, and James Sheppard, and Emma Eilbes. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on May 19, 2014; and her parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin followed by Memorial Services at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Larry Rieck officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh, WI. Memorials may be directed to the Green Lake Area Animal Shelter.
