John M. Davey

John Merle Davey, age 31, of Berlin, fell asleep in the arms of his Savior on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Berlin.

He was born June 25, 1984, in Oshkosh, the beloved son of the late Merle Davey and Patricia Trible Davey. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, attended St. John Lutheran School and Berlin High School. John worked for many years with Schuster Farms and later for Leach Farms. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, snowmobiling, farming and especially his chocolate lab, Hershey. John’s time with us was way too short and he will be forever missed by many.

He is survived by his mother, Pat; half-brother, Gus (Jesica) Davey; nephew, Rocco Schwandt; niece, Alivia Davey; aunts, Mary (Orin) Nitschke and Marilyn Trible; very special uncle, Robert (Sonja) Heinz; many cousins; life-long friend, Joe Heise (Diane) and their son, Brayden, who was especially dear to John’s heart. John leaves behind a special young woman in his life, Gretchen Chier, daughter of Larry (Sara) Chier. He also shared a special connection with his Godmother, Donna Malson; special family friend, Glenn Rosenwinkel; and good friends, Jason Carley, Brian Wilson, Mike Retzlaff, Randy Roxbury, Nathan Chier, Curt Chier, Jeremy Paukstat and many others. He was preceded in death by his father, Merle, just eleven months ago; and his grandmothers, Doris Dopke, thirteen months ago, and Anne Madison.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin, the Rev. Bryan G. Lundquist officiating. Interment will be in Eureka Cemetery next to his dad. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, April 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and again on Friday one hour prior to the services.
