Barbara Jane Chesman
Barbara Jane Chesman, age 99, of Wautoma, died peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Juliette Manor.
She was born October 21, 1921, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Ruth Evelyn Burke. Following high school, Barbara graduated from Western College in Oxford, OH, and later received a master’s degree at Webster University in St. Louis, MO. She was united in marriage to Joseph Robert Chesman.
Barbara was an elementary and Jr. high teacher, a real estate agent for 25 years and was a Library Instruction Assistant for 15 years at St. Louis Community College-Meramec in Kirkwood, MO. She had a great fondness for dogs and was a member of Toast Masters.
She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Craig (Elizabeth) Chesman and Thomas Allen Chesman; four grandchildren, Anna Alise Chesman, Eric David Chesman, Brian Wesley Chesman and Laura (Heath) Jeffries; and one sister, Jo Debler. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and her brother, James Burke.
Following cremation, Barbara will be memorialized near the Black Covered Bridge in Oxford, OH. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
