Roland J. "Rock Bunke"
Roland John “Rock” Bunke, age 92, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021, with his best friends, Teresa Simonis and Janice Button, at his side.
He was born May 8, 1928, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Roland and Barbara Shanheir Bunke. Rock 0was a graduate of Oshkosh High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. On May 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Margaret Rolph in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2011.
Rock worked for Kimberly Clark. He was a member of the Local United Paper Workers International Union. He was very active in the establishment and promotion of local labor unions. Rock was a charter member of the Oshkosh Gun Club since its inception in 1947, and a lifetime member of Fox Valley Gun Club and Berlin Conservation Club. He enjoyed trap shooting and skeet. As an avid outdoorsman, his favorite duck hunting companion was a Labrador Retriever. He loved baseball and was a Milwaukee Brewers fan.
There will be a Celebration of Life and sharing of memories for Rock on Saturday, May 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Izzy’s Pub in Berlin between the bridges. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
