Charlotte R. Abel

Charlotte Rose Abel, age 91, of Berlin, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Patriot Place in Berlin.

She was born March 31, 1924, in Waushara County, the daughter of Fred and Erna Berglin Thom. Charlotte attended Waushara County School. On May 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clifford Abel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite.

Charlotte worked for Chapman Company in Berlin, Thilmany Paper Company in Kaukauna, was a sewer for Lambskin Slipper in Berlin and also farmed in the Town of Seneca. She loved gardening, flowers, feeding the birds, travelling with Clifford, fishing, playing cards and her cats. Charlotte was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Berlin Senior Center and St. Paul Lutheran Church at Fairburn, including Ladies Aide and assisting with the Sunday bulletins, and was a volunteer at CHN.

She is survived by her son, James (Ann) Abel; four grandchildren, Sara (Curt) Sheppard, Tyler (Rona) Abel, Kristin (Jamie) Gustafson and Megan Peschke; six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Landen, Reagan, Reese, Elsie and Iliana; two brothers, Arden (Evelyn) Thom and Lyle Thom; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, on September 29, 1997; daughter, Sue (Ron) Peschke; her parents; two sisters, Ellen (Doug) Donnan and Gertrude (Robert) James; brother, Ervin (Ardene) Thom; sister-in-law, Connie Thom; and brothers-in-law, Alvin (Caroline) Abel, Arden (Ethel) Abel and Harold (Elnora) Abel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Fairburn, the Rev. Gregory Sluke officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Friday, March 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services.
