Virginia A. Wolff

Virginia A. Wolff, age 89, of Berlin, died peacefully on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin with her family by her side.

She was born November 11, 1928, in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Edwin and Mildred Kintz Root. Virginia was a 1946 graduate of Berlin High School, and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she earned her teaching degree. On August 5, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harry L. Wolff at the Methodist Church on Park Avenue in Berlin. After her marriage, she lived in Weyauwega, Genoa City, Berlin, and Janesville before moving to Oshkosh.

Virginia enjoyed a long teaching career starting in rural schools and taking teacher positions at several different elementary schools. Family was very important to Virginia. She thrived on making big family dinners and hosting holiday events. When she and her husband, Harry, retired, they moved back to Berlin where they built a home.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She attended as many of their school and sports activities as possible. She was happiest helping and supporting her family. In her retirement, Virginia stayed sharp playing word puzzles and watching quiz shows. Virginia was a member of United Methodist Church in Berlin, and was very active in the Berlin Alumni Association. She was active with the ladies group at her church and enjoyed summer excursions with a group of retired teacher friends. For many years, she tended flower beds in her yard and canned vegetables that Harry raised in their garden.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Gary (Patricia) Wolff and David Wolff; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Joan) Wolff, Amelia (Dave) Compton Wolff, Daniel (Rebecca Ottman) Wolff, Erin Wolff, Joshua Wolff, Tristan Wolff, and Jonathan (Samantha) Wolff; four great-grandchildren, Reese, Austin, Hudson, & Maisy; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Wolff and Joan Root. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on May 1, 2015; her parents; daughter-in-law, Mary Wolff; sisters, Grace Root, and Haroldine Root; and brother, Charles Root.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Berlin, Rev. Larry Rieck officiating. Friends and relatives may call at Barbola Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
