Vera E. Soda

Vera E. Soda, age 79, of Berlin, died peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Barrett House in Ripon.

She was born June 13, 1942, in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Albert and Viola Dahlke Stewart. Vera attended Washington School, St. John Lutheran School and was a 1960 graduate of Berlin High School. On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Merlyn Soda at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Vera worked for Fabriko in Green Lake and helped on the family farm where they raised beef cattle. She worked at several area restaurants over the years and cooked and cared for the elderly. Vera’s love for cooking prompted her to own and operate a local restaurant called The Little Red Schoolhouse. When she wasn’t busy cooking, she loved to tend to her flower gardens. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Fairburn.

She is survived by her husband, Merlyn; daughter, Sandra (Larry) Gruber; and two grandsons, Greg and Brandon. Vera was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Gregory Sluke officiating.
