Bernard A. Rodensal

Bernard Albert Rodensal, age 85, of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Patriot Place in Berlin.

He was born October 22, 1933, in Berlin, the son of Walter and Louise Zietlow Rodensal. Bernie was a 1951 graduate of Berlin High School and served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On June 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Polk at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Bernie owned and operated Berlin Oil Products from 1955 until his retirement. He loved cars, hunting and spending time with his family. Bernie was a Past Commander of Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925.

He is survived by his son, Barry (Gloria) Rodensal; daughter, Kim (Rodney) Lehr; three grandchildren, Cole (Kristie) Lehr, Lindsay (Allen) Conrad and Brittney Lehr; two great-grandchildren, Adella and Claire; two sisters, Karene (Bob) Jezwinski and Robin (Russ) Henriksen; and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn on June 16, 2013; sister, Joan (Florian “Bill”) Brisky; and four brothers, Walter “Bud” (Lorraine) Rodensal, Richard (Gert) Rodensal, Spencer (Joyce) Rodensal and William (Virginia) Rodensal.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin. Funeral services will be held at the church at 4:00 p.m., Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Private interment with military honors performed by Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925 will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Heartland Hospice or Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925. Special thanks to the staff at Patriot Place and Heartland Hospice for the care they gave Bernie during his short stay.
