Maxine E. Leone
Maxine E. Leone, age 91, of Poy Sippi, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at home.
She was born April 22, 1928, in Poy Sippi, the daughter of Ernest and Alice Vincent Vergin. Maxine was a 1946 graduate of Berlin High School and attended Oshkosh Business College. On December 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Leone at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poy Sippi.
Maxine worked for Cooperative Care and enjoyed bowling for over 30 years on the Poy Sippi Tuesday Night Ladies League. She was a member of Andersen/Wendt Legion Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Lenny) Langkau; son, Gregory (Denise) Leone; three grandchildren, John Langkau, Maribeth (Nick) Nitti and Michael Leone; four great- grandchildren, Brianne Langkau, Madison Leone, Mia Nitti and Austin Leone; sister-in-law, Betty (Jim) Murray; brother-in-law, John Wilson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on June 1, 1977; four sisters, Audrey Selle, Norine Ziegenhagen, Madeline Lewellyn & Ione Maldari; and brother, Ronald Vergin.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Memorial services will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Ted Johanson officiating. Inurnment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
