Marcella Jorgensen
Marcella Jorgensen, age 87, of Poy Sippi, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 10, 2025.
She was born December 29, 1937, in Clark County, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Ellen Everson Thompson. Marcella attended Wild Rose schools. On October 13, 1956, she was united in marriage to Raymond Jorgensen at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi.
She and Raymond dairy farmed in Pine River from 1962 until retirement in 1996. Additionally, Marcella working as a seamstress for Medalist Sand Knit, McGregor Sand Knit and Ripon Athletics for over 30 years sewing garments for many high school, college and professional sports teams. A proud memory for her was often sewing uniforms for the Green Bay Packers. In between working at McGregor Sand Knit and Ripon Athletics, Marcella attained her GED to become a PMR at Poy Sippi Post Office for eight years.
She had a passion for any type of sewing and loved it so much, she even enjoyed crocheting hundreds of afghans for family and friends, knitting, embroidering and making quilts in her free time. Marcella had many other hobbies over the years including cake decorating, ceramics, gardening and reading. She liked visiting with friends, playing cards and especially treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi.
She is survived by her three children, Debora Smith, Bonnie Olsen and Kevin Jorgensen; four grandchildren, Bethany Olsen, Emily (Derek) Danay, Jacob (Megan) Olsen and Abbey Smith (fiancé, Spencer Hanlon); six great-grandchildren, Malin Wagner, Jaxson, Grayson and Chase Danay, twin boys, Miles and Marcus Hanlon and Adilyn and AJ Olsen; one brother, Edward (Shirley) Thompson; brothers-in-law, Richard (Delores) Jorgensen, Donovan Rew and Don Mattox; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on September 20, 2009; sister, Marcia (Lewis) Andersen; and sisters-in-law, Eileen Mattox and Donna Rew.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many hospice staff members who assisted with her home care.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Inurnment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Memorials may be directed to ThedaCare Hospice at Home.
