Sylvan F. “Bud” Doll Sr.
Sylvan F. “Bud” Doll Sr., age 92, of Beloit, died peacefully at his home following a short illness, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
He was born on the family farm, April 25, 1932, in Norwalk, WI, the son of William and Agnes Schreier Doll. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School. Bud served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1955, where he was stationed two times in Germany, attaining the rank of Staff Seargent. After he left the Air Force, Bud moved to Beloit, and worked for Beloit Corporation as an inspector, retiring after 39 years.
In 1958, Bud met the love of his life, Fran Snell. They were married in 1961 in Dubuque, IA, and celebrated 39 years of marriage together. They welcomed four children, Brenda, Sylvan Jr., Jody and Michael. Bud also had four stepchildren. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and neighbors.
Bud loved to watch the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Bucks and had a love for polka music.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (Paul) Barber, Sylvan Doll Jr., Jody (Daniel) Andrade and Michael (Elizabeth) Doll; two stepchildren, Harlan (Paula) Hanson and Beverly Hanson; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Fran; stepchildren, Marlin and Carl Hanson; brother, Victor; and sisters, Irene, Lucille, Mert, Dorothy and Mamie.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Home Instead and Beloit Regional Hospice for their support and special care of their dad.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at 12:00 p.m., at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi, with Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., until the time of services. Interment with full military honors will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. The Brian Mark Funeral & Family Care Center of Beloit and Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel of Poy Sippi are assisting the family with arrangements.
