Randy Lee Nickolaisen, age 52 of Reno, NV, formerly of Berlin, died unexpectedly at his home in Reno on Sunday, January 15, 2012.
Randy was born October 17, 1959 in Berlin. He was the son of James and Geraldine Erdman Nickolaisen. He was a 1978 graduate of Berlin High School and attended the University of Platteville. Randy worked at Cantex in Reno, NV for thirteen years. He enjoyed hunting with his friends in WI plus fishing and camping with his friends in Reno. Randy liked making his own fishing flys. He also loved to read. Randy loved the Cubs…go Cubs go!
He is survived by his father, Jim and his wife Joan of Berlin; brother, Richard (Linda)
Nickolaisen of Auroraville; niece, Vicki Nickolaisen of St. Paul, MN; step-sister Joan (Steve)
Adams and their children of Inyokern, CA; step-brother Guy (Karen) Schiessl and their children
of Williston, ND; step-sister Janet Schiessl of Altadena, CA; step-brother Ben (Nivia) Schiessl
of Pasadena, CA. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, and special friends, Mike (Deb) Haas
and their sons Derek and Kyle of Reno, NV, John and Cindy Schrader of Berlin, and Jerry
Piepiorka of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his mother, "Gerry" in 1991.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel
in Berlin. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the
time of service. Cremation will take place and half of his ashes will be scattered at the "Polish
Ponderosa", a hunting place in Adams Co. and the other half on his favorite fishing place in
northern NV. Memorials may be directed to the Green Lake Humane Society and local food
pantries. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel.
